💡 Our study philosophy

Studying should build memory, not just fill time.

GeniusPal exists because most study time gets spent the wrong way. Re-reading, highlighting, and copying out notes all feel productive, yet most of it fades by exam day. We built GeniusPal around what the evidence actually shows makes learning stick.

What we believe

Retrieval beats re-reading

You remember what you practice pulling out of your head, not what you passively review. GeniusPal turns your material into questions that make you retrieve, the single most effective thing you can do to learn.

A little, often, beats cramming

Memory fades on a predictable curve, so short sessions spread across days beat one long push, and they cost less total effort. GeniusPal is built to fit small, repeated bursts rather than one panicked night.

Honest self-testing is the point

The moment of not-quite-remembering is where learning actually happens. We would rather show you what you have not mastered yet than let a highlighter convince you that you already have.

Your energy belongs on thinking

Turning messy notes into something you can revise from is busywork, not learning. GeniusPal handles that part in seconds, so your effort goes into understanding the material instead of formatting it.

From the founder

Shannon, Founder, GeniusPal

I'm Shannon, and I built GeniusPal after years of mentoring students one on one. The same thing kept happening: bright, capable people worn down not by the ideas themselves, but by the overhead of turning messy notes into something they could actually revise from.

What pulled them through was never more highlighting. It was retrieval practice, spacing the work out, and testing themselves honestly. GeniusPal is that approach turned into a tool, so the studying that actually sticks is what remains once the busywork falls away.

The science behind it

Each of these beliefs rests on decades of cognitive science: active recall, spaced repetition, and cognitive load. On the Method page we break down the research and show how each GeniusPal feature puts it to work.
